Eldersburg, MD, October 14, 2009 – RFID Global Solution, Inc., the leading provider of real-time asset visibility solutions, has been awarded a contract through Buccaneer Computer Systems and Services, Inc. (BCSSI) to deploy a Real-Time IT Asset Tracking solution at the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) White Oak Data Center (WODC) facility in Silver Spring, Maryland.

The FDA has embarked on a multi-year program to modernize its IT computing facilities and programs. BCSSI will use RFIDGS’ premier asset visibility management software, VIsi-TracTM, to efficiently monitor the location and movements of critical IT assets within the WODC.  Visi-Trac supports both active and passive technologies (e.g., UltraWideBand Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology from Zebra Enterprise Solutions and ISO 18000-6C standard-based tags and readers) to track both IT assets and personnel.

“RFID Global Solution was the only RFID solutions provider we turned to because of their track record in developing and deploying IT Asset Tracking solutions that span the breadth of all automatic identification technologies. It was RFIDGS’ deep technical understanding of data center RFID needs and active RTLS technologies that allowed us to gain maximum ROI, as well as a scalable architecture that supports future growth,” commented Michael DiAndrea, Vice President and Deputy director, SE&I, Buccaneer. “Our experience with RFIDGS began four years ago with a successful enterprise deployment of an IT Security/Asset Tracking solution at the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), making RFIDGS an easy choice for us,” DiAndrea added.

With accuracy to less than a meter, the RFIDGS Visi-Trac solution not only provides enhanced physical security, but also facilitates integration with configuration management and resource planning tools. The Visi-Trac asset tracking solution provides real-time visualization of resources with 2D mapping, geo-fencing and real-time alert messaging configurable by user and their work schedules. The system also has the ability to associate movements of assets with people, creating a chain of custody record. Knowing who has what, when and where can be invaluable, especially while searching for sensitive data or technology components associated with those assets.

“We are very pleased to have been selected to help BCSSI implement the FDA’s vision for Information and Computing Technologies for the 21st Century (ICT21). Use of RFID technology to track data center IT assets is an integral part of an IT modernization program,” said Diana Hage, Chief Executive Officer, RFID Global Solution.

Tracking of IT assets and personnel using RFID technologies is a rapidly expanding application that has proven value across the enterprise. RFIDGS’ Visi-Trac product is enabling companies and federal agencies to more fully exploit the latest RFID and sensor technologies using an architecture that adds resiliency by embracing change and supporting diverse sensory technology.
