Warehouse Management - Naval Air Station, Jacksonville

Warehouse Management at Naval Air Station, Jacksonville

Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, is a multi-mission base hosting more than 100 commands and is known for its “Service to the Fleet”. Support facilities include a maintenance depot employing more than 150 trade skills capable of performing maintenance as basic as changing a tire to intricate micro-electronics or total engine disassembly. The Naval Aviation Depot (NADEP) is the Navy’s premier engine facility and reworks jet engines and over 36,000 aeronautical components and avionics.

A Lean Six Sigma analysis revealed that limited visibility of parts and supplies between warehouses and points of repair was the cause of inefficiency in maintenance processes. RFIDGS implemented a warehouse management solution to RFID-enable picking, packing, shipping and put away at NAS JAX, significantly improving the maintenance process through better velocity management of repair parts, working with URS / Lear.
